Confined Space Entry - Train the Trainer

This Train the Trainer – Confined Space Entry Course will equip workplace trainers with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively teach this Confined Space Entry program to employees in Canada. This course will ensure that trainers not only understand Confined Space Entry compliance requirements but can also communicate them effectively to diverse workplace audiences. In addition, this course also covers adult learning principles, training design and delivery, evaluation methods, and specific Confined Space Entry course knowledge as required by all Provincial OHS and Federal Regulations across Canada.
Part 1: Train the Trainer
The section of the course will provide you with the required knowledge and skills to effectively train your learners in proper safety practices using industry accepted Adult Learning Principles.
Upon completion of this section, you should be able to:
- Know the differences between being a safety trainer and competent person
- Understand adult learning principles and how they apply to safety training
- Create effective training programs and materials
- Deliver effective and informative safety training sessions
- Conduct evaluations of your training sessions and make necessary improvements
- Be able to present the entire Confined Space Entry program to your learners
Part 2: Confined Space Entry
This section of the course will teach you the Confined Space Entry program for your full understanding to allow you to then effectively teach this program to your learners.
Upon completion of this section, you should be able to:
- Know what defines a confined space, the risks involved while working in confined spaces and the importance of creating and maintaining a safe work environment
- Understand confined space entry legal requirements under the Canada Labour Code, Provincial OHS and CSA Regulations, including the roles and responsibilities of employers, supervisors and workers
- Recognize the various hazards of entering and working inside a confined space and how to conduct proper assessment and control measures including proper selection and use of air monitors
- Understand the roles and responsibilities of the Entrants, Attendants and Entry Supervisor
- Identify the correct confined space entry procedures and when permits are required.
- Be aware of the proper emergency response and rescue procedures
- Know the roles and responsibilities during a confined space emergency
- Understand proper rescue techniques and what equipment is required
- Choose the proper personal protection equipment (PPE) before entering any confined space
Upon successful completion of this two-part program, you will receive a PDF completion certificate showing you as having achieved the designation of Train the Trainer: Confined Space Entry.
